Curly Sue ‘Do – Ouidad Review

Being a “Curly Sue” has its challenges, but none bigger than finding the right products for my hair. For years, I’ve tested out a variety of products – gel, mousse, and hair spray. All of which can have left my hair dry due to the amount of alcohol in them.

But, one thing I didn’t think about was how shampoo and conditioner affect my hair. I’ve also tried a variety of brands and have stuck with one that I really like.

Recently, I had the chance to try out Ouidad’s shampoo and conditioner. And I noticed a few things before even opening the bottles. The first thing I noticed was that each bottle was sealed at the top. As a mom, I thought this was great because it would keep little fingers from easy access. It took me a couple of seconds to get a good grip on the seal to peel it off.

The second thing I noticed was the instruction on the back of the bottle. I read the information on any product I use and this was no different. Ouidad outlines how to use the product and how to wash my hair with it. Even better, Ouidad explains why massaging the products in my hair is important.  Also, the instructions point out that this method would maximize the curl in my hair without making it brittle and frizzy. It was a change to massage my hair rather than the scrubbing I’m used to, but it was a nice change since I only get a massage when I go to the salon. Using the conditioner was very easy, too because there was instruction on how to use it to refresh my hair and how that would leave my hair moisturized and shiny.

One thing I noticed as well was that the did have alcohol in it and I had some flakes afterward. But, my hair was very soft to the touch when it was dry. I have to say that what I liked most about Ouidad was the instructions on hair care for curly sues like me. But, I’m a traditionalist and love my current shampoo and conditioner.

I’d like to thank Ouidad for sharing the products with me.

It’s a Beautiful Day

Saturday in NYC is gorgeous out. As I’m waiting for kiddo to finish up karate class, I’ve been outside the rec center enjoying the sun and the warm breeze. I feel like a flower shaking off the winter snow to face the sun.
Sorry for the poetry, but I’m so ready to kiss winter goodbye and welcome the arrival of spring.
What are you up to today?
